The Qutub Minar is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Mehrauli. The 240-foot brick minaret with five storeys was built as a victory tower in 1193 by Qutub-ud-din Aibak after he defeated the last Hindu king of Delhi.
See the gateway Alai Darwaza, the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque (the oldest surviving mosque in India), and the famous Iron Pillar — a 20-foot column from the 3rd century B.C. that has stood without rusting. Also within the complex are the remains of an Islamic school, several Jain temples, and the tomb of Iltumish.
